Do I need to make a booking for an assessment?

No, you do not need a booking for an assessment. Feel free to pop in any time between 8.30am & 4.30pm Monday – Friday on a fine day. The assessment should take roughly 15 minutes.

Do you offer loan vehicles?

Yes, we have 25 loan vehicles. They are a one-off cost of $40.00 (incl GST)*.

* Toyota insurance customers are exempt from this fee.

How long will the repairs take?

Our assessors will be able to give you an indication of how long the repairs will take once they have sighted the damage. This can vary due to parts delays and any new damage discovered to the vehicle once repairs have commenced.

Do I need to lodge a claim if it is not my fault?

If you have full comprehensive insurance and the accident was not your fault, you still need to lodge a claim with your insurance company. It is your insurers responsibility to chase down the necessary people for payment. If they are successful, the claim should not affect your no claims bonus.

Who do I pay my insurance excess to?

As the customer, this is your choice. You may pay your excess to your insurance company prior to repairs, or we collect payment upon pick up of your vehicle.

What happens if there is a dispute over the excess?

Payment to Smith & Boyle is due once upon collection of your vehicle, once repairs have been completed. You will then need to pursue your insurance company to process any refund once the dispute is resolved.

Why is it important to select an authorised repairer?

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) repair status refers to the certification given by a vehicle manufacturer to a collision repair facility indicating that they meet the manufacturer's standards for repair. Having OEM repair status is important for several reasons:

Safety
OEM repair status ensures that the repairs are done correctly and according to the manufacturer's specifications. This is important for safety reasons, as a poorly repaired vehicle may not perform as intended in the event of another collision.

Warranty
Repairs done by a facility with OEM repair status may be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. This can save customers money and provide peace of mind.

Resale value
Vehicles that have been repaired by a facility with OEM repair status may have a higher resale value because the repairs are guaranteed to be of high quality and meet the manufacturer's standards.

Customers who have their vehicles repaired by a facility with OEM repair status are likely to be more satisfied with the repairs, knowing that they have been done to the highest standards.
